There are many things in life that we cannot control. Sometimes it feels like the whole world is against us and everything we do just isn’t good enough. This can be incredibly frustrating, especially when we know deep down that we are capable of so much more.

Maya, the Hindu goddess of illusion, can be seen as a metaphor for the challenges we face in life. Just as Maya creates illusions to deceive us, so too do the challenges we face try to deceive us into thinking we are powerless.

However, we always have a choice. We can either accept the challenge and allow it to defeat us, or we can resist it and find a way to overcome it.

The wisdom lies in knowing when to accept and when to resist. If we accept everything that comes our way, we will never achieve anything. We will always be at the mercy of the challenges we face. However, if we resist everything, we will also never achieve anything. We will be so busy fighting challenges that we will never have the opportunity to achieve our goals.

The key is to find a balance. To know when to accept and when to resist.

When we are faced with a challenge, we should first ask ourselves if it is something we can overcome. If the answer is yes, then we should resist. We should find a way to overcome the challenge and come out stronger on the other side.

However, if the answer is no, then we should accept. We should accept that this challenge is beyond our power to overcome and move on.

There is no shame in admitting that we cannot overcome a challenge. The wisdom lies in knowing when to accept and when to resist.

~ Optional ~

Om Sri Ramana Maharshi, may I accept the perpetual flux of the Universe with equanimity, understanding that nothing is ever truly lost or gained. May I be mindful of my thoughts, feelings, and desires, yet remain unattached to them, thereby freeing myself from the bonds of my own expectations. May I be open to divine guidance, trusting in the perfection of the Universe and the will of the Divine. May I surrender to the truth of impermanence and be ever-grateful for the gift of life, while also honoring my own inner knowing. Grant me the wisdom to know when to accept and when to resist Maya, and may I remain steadfast in the unchanging truth of my own Self.
