Example 01

Judgement: I should be perfect.

Observation: I have not managed to hear the feelings and needs of my partner when he speaks his mind about my behaviour. I ended up getting angry and ended up saying phrases like “It’s not true!”

Feelings: frustrated; annoyed

Needs: Growth; Meaning

Self-mourning: I now fully mourn that I did activate my compassionate ears thinking about similar experiences as I open to feelings of sadness arising along with the yearning for being kinder and wiser.

Self-forgiveness: But instead of blame, I felt a wave of compassion for myself as I realized that even my doing what I did had come out of serving my own need for ease and emotional self-protection.

Request: Am I willing to practice NVC journalling for 15 minutes a day in the morning or evening?
