When it comes to writing a book, the research phase is often one of the most daunting tasks. But it doesn’t have to be! By breaking down your research into tiny habits, you can make the process more manageable — and even fun! Here are three ways to level up your book writing research through tiny habits:

1. Make micro-milestones. Instead of thinking of your research as one big, overwhelming project, break it down into smaller, more manageable tasks. For example, set a goal of researching three specific topics related to your book or even a micro-goal of writing three bullet points. Once you’ve completed that research, celebrate your accomplishment! Then, move on to the next task on your list.

2. Celebrate after each completion. A little bit of positive reinforcement can go a long way in keeping you motivated. So, after you complete each micro-milestone, take a moment to celebrate! Maybe you’ll treat yourself to a cup of coffee, take a quick walk around the block, or just take a few deep breaths. Whatever you do, make sure you take the time to appreciate your hard work.

3. Refactor later. Once you’ve completed your research, you may find that some of your initial ideas need to be revised. That’s totally normal! The important thing is that you’ve made progress and you can always refine your ideas later.

By following these simple tips, you can make the research phase of writing your book much more manageable — and even enjoyable!
