I’ve been dreaming of an Inclusive version of Our Father, which I’d enjoy sharing with you my first iteration today.
Dear Spirit of Life, may your name be honoured; May the pathway to your realm of infinite Love and Wisdom be opened, and may your vision be realised on earth as it is in the Pureland. May our needs for Subsistence and Meaning be met, may we transcend the life-alienating language of right and wrong into the life-enriching language of feelings and needs. May we distract ourselves from instant gratification, and may we be protected from life-alienation. Amen
There are two gifts we may give our children; one is roots, and the other is wings.
I’d now enjoy acknowledging the roots of the above. I most based it on the
Our Heavenly Father, may your name be honored; May your kingdom come, and your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day the bread we need, Forgive us what we owe to you, as we have also forgiven those who owe anything to us. Keep us clear of temptation, and save us from evil.
I personally see the language of most translations of the Bible can be sometimes life-alienating. I was hence inspired to translate and transform borrowing wisdom from Dr Marshall Rosenberg and his book Nonviolent Communication.
